SEO 101 Part 1

A great example of good Page Title, H1 and URL SEO
The first thing anyone should do when building a website and thinking about SEO is to make sure the Page Title, H1 and URL of every page on their site is optimized. I like to call this the Holy Trinity of SEO.

Yes it is very basic and is really only one piece of the SEO picture, but it is the fundamental building block of getting a site into the search engines and still something that people gloss over when building out a site. All three should reflect the content that the page contains and have as many search volume heavy keywords in them as possible (though not too many!). Page titles should be limited to 70 characters and URLs should employ dashes in stead of spaces (not underscores). If there is flexibility in the keywords (meaning there are synonyms available), those words should be researched using the Google Keyword tool (aka the Google Adwords tool or the Google External Keyword Tool link below). If there is a synonym that has a higher search volume, that should be used instead of the original keyword.
